picNiche Approved on Mozilla Addons Site

Great news!

After 5 months queueing, the picNiche Contributor Toolbar has now been approved to ‘Public’ status on the mozilla addons site… Yay! 🙂

This means two things:

Firstly, that the code is deemed safe and secure by an experienced mozilla project editor (IE: No leaks and no problematic holes, no undisclosed functionality, and that it behaves in a reliable, stable manner). This is really important to me since you are in-effect trusting my code NOT to send your credentials anywhere other than the appropriate agency site.

Secondly, that future bugfixes and features in the toolbar will be downloaded and updated automatically, meaning you can be sure any bugs in older versions are fixed ASAP, and new features are available pretty sharpish too.

If you’re still running an old version it should update sometime over the next couple of days as the updated status cycles into the mozilla systems.

A big thanks to Andrew Williamson (eviljeff) for taking the time to review the code, it’s quite a large codebase for an extension so I expect took quite some time.

It takes quite a lot of time to develop and maintain, so please, if you use either of the toolbars, I’d very much appreciate you taking a minute to add an honest review on the mozilla site.

These help new people decide if they’d like to give it a try, and are more important than ever now the toolbar is publicly searchable on the addons site.

Thanks 🙂

Congratulations Rob, I think you will see a lot more downloads now that users don’t have to get passed that “this is a developmental plugin” warning.
